bullet  General Notes

John Buckman Roberts arrived in Oregon in 1847 with his brother, mother and father, a Methodist Minister and third superintendent of the Jason Lee Willamette Mission near Salem Oregon. He grew up mostly in the Salem area, married Laura Miller from Milwaukie and spent the early adult years in Portland.

In 1878 he moved his family to Whitman County Washington in the Palouse Country. Here he and Laura homesteaded on 640 acres, brought up their four children (Edward, Sallie, Harry and Charles) while raising cattle and growing wheat, until he died in 1889.
