bullet  General Notes

DORA BELLE (BROUSSOU) COLLVER was born 16 June 1876 in Prairie du Chien, Crawford County, Wisconsin, USA. According to her Social Security application, she was the daughter of George H. Broussou and Rhoda Ann Hill.

Dora worked as a nurse. This may have been how she met and married her husband, Orace Gabriel Collver, a man 22 years her senior. They married sometime before 1934. Dora lived in Portland, Oregon for a number of years. She appeared in the 1933 city directory, as well as in the 1940 census (soon after her husband's death).

About 1945, Dora moved to Pasadena, California. She was listed in the city directory there in 1949. Because she listed her middle initial ("B") and gave her occupation ("nurse"), we are able to match her up with her 1940 census listing and Social Security application. Through this means, we are able to identify her as the one who died in Pasadena on 9 November 1949.

Dora died suddenly of coronary thrombosis; a friend gave information on her death, so the death certificate does not list her parents or her maiden name. Dora was cremated on 12 November 1949 at the Pasadena Mausoleum (now part of Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum). Because her family was not identified, her cremains have no particular burial location.
