bullet  General Notes

RACHEL PERMILIA MAGLONE was born 19 January 1862 in Noble Township, Richland County, Illinois. She was the daughter of James Maglone and his first wife, Mary Henson. On November 9, 1884, in Noble Township, Rachel married her first husband, Lysander Taylor. Lysander was 15 years older than Rachel. He was born in Sheffield, Ashtabula County, Ohio, the son of Edmond H. Taylor and Elizabeth Goulette. Together, Rachel and Lysander had four children — daughters Effie, Clara, and Chloe, and son, E. Coyson Taylor. Lysander died in 1901.

A few years later, on 22 Dec 1904, Rachel married a local widower, James William Maddox. James was born about 1857 in Noble, the son of John Maddox and Mary Eleanor Bowen. They appeared together on the 1910 census in Noble, Illinois, but by 1915 they had separated or divorced. James moved to Iowa and lived with one of his sons, while Rachel stayed in Noble. Rachel finally died on 20 Aug 1934 in Noble Township, Richland County, Illinois. She went under her surname "Maddox" since 1904 (which is the name on her death certificate), but she is apparently buried under the name Taylor.
