Arthur is a 2nd cousin to his 2nd wife, Evadne Downs.  His father was first cousin to Evadne's mother.

Arthur was the son of Edwin Martin Hulburd and Helen Maria Morgan.  Helen was the daughter of William Morgan and Sarah Fitch.  William Morgan's sister Emily Morgan (wife of James B. G. Downs) was the mother of Flavel Downs, father of Evadne.
