Although Alva's birthdate was listed as 24 June 1879 on both his Social Security Application and his death certificate, he was not listed with his family in the 1880 census. The 1880 census was to record data as of 1 June 1880 (and it was enumerated on 14 July 1880 for the White family). Since Alva was not listed, it is likely that he was really born in either 1880 or 1881.
