bullet  General Notes

FELIX HUSTON MAGLONE was born 06 August 1882 in Levit Prairie, Noble Township, Richland County, Illinois, USA.  He was the son of Felix Huston Maglone and Sarah Catherine Wagner. From a young age he was called by his middle name, "Houston," most likely to distinguish him from his father.

It is not known exactly what happened to Houston's father; he died sometime before December of 1899, probably in Richland County, Illinois.  His mother Sarah remarried, to the brother of her first husband, Thomas Maglone (Houston's uncle).  The family shows up in the 1900 census in Noble Township, Richland County, Illinois, USA.  Young Houston is 17 then.

On 16 July 1904, Houston married his wife, Nancy Jane Lucas, in Mount Carmel, Wabash County, Illinois, USA.  Nancy was the widow of Allen Jackson; she had at least three surviving children from her first marriage (Nina, Charles and Ola Faye). The family appears in the 1910 census in Wabash Township, Gibson County, Indiana, USA.  The two younger Jackson children are there, along with two new sons, Herman Clifford Maglone and William Herbert Maglone.

When Houston registered for the draft in 1918, he used his "official" name, "Felix Houston Maglone."  But in most records subsequent to that, he shows up as simply Houston Maglone until finally his death is registered under the name "Houston Felix Maglone."

The family appeared on the 1920 and 1930 censuses in Keensburg, Coffee Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois, USA.  Youngest daughter Lela Brain Maglone makes her appearance on the 1920 census.  Houston worked as a laborer, and then as a straw bailer manager.

Nancy died on 16 February 1933 and was buried in Coffee Cemetery two days later.  Sometime after her death, Houston remarried a woman named Ada (surname unknown).  They appear on the 1940 census together, still in Keensburg.  Ada died on 29 April 1950 in Wasbash County, Illinois (probably in Keensburg); she too was buried in Coffee Cemetery.  Finally, later that same year on November 12th, 1950, Houston died in Richland County, Illinois.  He was buried in Coffee Cemetery in Keensburg, Wabash County, Illinois, along with his two wives.
