"Wright, John, s. of Robert, baker in Haddington, to James Carfrae, for 4 years and to James Jackson & Co., all merchants for ( )"
- On 8 December 1791 John was admitted to the rolls as Burgess and Guild Brother in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
John Wright lawful son to Robert Wright baker in Haddington Served as an Apprentice to James Carfrae Merchant in Edinburgh for the space of four years and by a Certificate on the back of the Indenture under the hand of James Jackson & Company, Merchants in Edinburgh it appears that the said John Wright served the said company for several years after the expiration of the indenture with the said James Carfrae. And therefore the Lord Dean of Guild by his order on the back of the Indenture appointed the same to be recorded and he thereafter admitted a Burges(s) and Guild Brother in Right of his Masters. In particular, they were to collect £100 Sterling which was in the hands of John Wright, cloth merchant in Edinburgh and £100 in the hands of David Wright, baker in Edinburgh which had been deposited with them by Andrew. [David was Andrew's first cousin, just a few years older than him; John was David's older half-brother, related to Andrew by his aunt Janet's marriage to his father, Robert Wright.]

of George Carphin Commissary Clerk of Edinburgh Com-
mission appointed by the Honourable the Commissaries
of Edinburgh for taking the following Deposition Com-
peared Mrs Agnes G Peddie otherwise Wright the widow
of the deceased and Executrix dative decerned to him
conform to Decree Dative in her favour dated the
day of who being solemnly sworn and
examined Depones That the said John Wright died intestate
upon the third day of November one thousand eight hun-
dred and twenty three That the deponent entered into
the possession and management of the said Personal
Estate as Executrix dative foresaid That the Deponent
does not know of any will or other writing left by
the deceased relative to the disposal of his personal
Estate and Effects or any part thereof Depones that
the foregoing Inventory which is subscribed by the De-
ponent and leaves power as relative hereto to a full
and complete Inventory of the whole personal Estate and
Effects of the said deceased at the time of his death in
so far as the same has come to the Deponents knowledge
and that the value of the said Estate to the best of the De-
ponents knowledge and belief is upwards of Four thousand
pounds and under the value of Five thousand pounds
Stirling All which is truth as the Deponent shall answer
to God And of which debts and effects the Deponent does
