    Conservative Wed. 4 Sept.1918
Brandon--About 80 relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Allerding came in on them Sunday with well filled baskets to help them celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary. After a sumptuous dinner, they departed, wishing them many more years of married life.

    Bulletin Journal 25 June 1931
A number of relatives of E. E. Allerding celebrated his 85th birthday with him at the park in Vinton Sunday. Those attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Allerding, Merrill Allerding and family, Mrs. Manda Naylor and osn, Milo, Roy Naylor and family, Bert Brooks and family, and the Jack Likens family.

(not sure which Independence paper this came from) 1 June 1932
    Emanuel Allerding:
Again we are called upon to mourn the passing of a pioneer resident of our town and community. This time it is the person of Emmanuel Allerding one of our most highly respected citizens.
Emmanuel was born in Lowdenville, OH, on June 22, 1846 and departed this life in Brandon, May 27, 1932, at the age of 85 yrs, 11 months and 5 days. He was married to Sarah Jane Wilford August 31, 1868, at Vinton, who passed away Dec. 9, 1922. To this union eight children were born all of whom are living except Jennie, who died at the age of 16 years. He was obedient unto the gospel and joined the Christian church in 1898 and continued faithful unto his relationship with Christ. Only last Lord's Day he assisted in the communion and at the close of the services pronounced benediction. He had been an elder in the church for about 25 yrs and at our annual election last January, due to his infirmities of old age he was elected honorary elder. He loved the Church of Christ and all of its auxiliaries and attended the services whenever possible.
On Friday morning he was in usual health, when in the post office about 8:30 o'clock, he apparently, without a struggle, passed on to enjoy the realities of the Great Unknown. He leaves to mourn his loss, two half-brothers, and two half-sisters living in Michigan and the following children: Cora Allerding, Hastings, Mich; Mary Naylor, Mable Zimmer, Garrison; Myrtle Good, Cedar Rapids; Jacob Allerding, Manda Naylor, and Carrie Likens, of this community; 21 grandchildren; 34 great grand-children; and 4 great great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday morning at ten o'clock at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Likens and at 10:30 from the First Christian Church.
The services were conducted by Rev. Loren T. Jenks, pastor of the church with burial in the Brandon Cemetery beside his wife and dau. The beautiful floral offerings showed the esteem in which he was held.
