From a letter written by Mary (Lawrence) Stapley, John's younger sister (and Catherine's aunt), to Jane (Lawrence) Hilder in Kent, England:

Dated Nov.16th, Elkhorn, 1868:
"We have just received the sad intellingence of the death of Kate Culver, after an attack of Typhoid Fever, afterwards the congestion of the lungs. lasting two weeks, her last words were Jesus is Precious, meet me beyond the river. I see Jesus now.
She leaves 3 small children, one quite a baby. Two of John's daughters within a year. May God support us in this severe trial."
The letter is signed, "from your affectionate sister & brother, John and Mary Stapley also your nephew Henry Stapley. "

Catherine married Moses Merritt CULVER, son of Moses CULVER and Sarah MERRITT, in October 1860.¹ (Moses Merritt CULVER was born on 15 August 1835 in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada and died in 1916 in Wawata, Saskatchewan, Canada.)
