       M. Jean Read Hough, born May 13, 1933 in Witt, Illinois to Ellen F. Read and Edward M. Read, passed away January 3, 2005 in Olympia, Washington.
       Jean graduated from Witt High School, and shortly thereafter met Glenn Hough, who at the time was a soldier on leave from Camp Breckinridge. They were married on November 8, 1952 in Witt, Illinois, and shared a very happy and joyous 52-plus years together.
       Jean, Glenn, and their family moved to Washington in 1962, and have remained in the Northwest since that time. She lived in the Seattle and Bothell areas for several years, and then relocated to Olympia in 1974. Jean worked for Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, as well as for the Olympia Airport, the Thurston County Treasurer's Office, and the Olympia Eye Clinic. Her last job was at St. Peter's Hospital, from which she retired in 1995.
       Jean touched the hearts of all with whom she came in contact, and she would go out of her way to lend a helping hand.
       Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Glenn Hough; four children, ----- Hough (-----), ----- Hough, ----- Hough (-----), and ----- Downs (-----); fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred "Midgie" Read; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.
       A Memorial Service celebrating Jean's life is scheduled for Sunday, January 9, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Olympia. All are welcome. A reception will follow.
