Obituary:  The North Platte Telegraph (Nov/21/2006)

Alfred 'Al' Molesworth
11/20/2006

Alfred "Al" Molesworth, 75, of Grand Island,  died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

He was born June 4, 1931, in Custer County, near Gates to Charles H. and Nellie O. Troxel Molesworth.  Al was raised on a farm/ranch in Custer County and attended country school.

He worked as a farm/ranch hand until entering the United States Army in 1949, serving 18 months in the Korean Conflict. He returned to farm/ranch work until 1956, when health problems forced him to seek medical attention.

On March 2, 1956, he married Ruby L. Fear at North Platte. They made their home on a ranch near Brady until health problems again caused Al to seek medical attention. They then moved for a short time northwest of Hershey before moving to Grand Island.

In Grand Island, he worked at the Veterans Hospital as a cook, then later as an elevator operator, and then as a building maintenance worker until his retirement 23 and a half years later. He then did odd jobs until he went to work for Skagway and Dow Service as a custodian until retiring at age 65.

For the past three years, Al had made his home at the Grand Island Veterans Home. While a resident at the Veterans Home, he was always willing to help his fellow veteran's in any way he could. He enjoyed hunting, fishing garden and yard work.

Mr. Molesworth was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 53, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the National Rifle Association.  He was a life member of VFW Post No. 1347, the National Association of Federal Retired Employees and a past member of the Good Sam Camping Club and the Rolling Eagles.

Survivors of the immediate family include two sisters and brothers-in-law, two brothers-in-law and their wives,  and a sister-in-law and her husband. Additional survivors include six nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby in 2004.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice. Online condolences may be directed through www. livson.com.

Services will be at noon on Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial with military honors will be at 3 p.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 4 to 6 p.m.
