Obituary from The Oregonian newspaper (August 15, 1951):

Last rites for Charles B. Shumway, 73, 9736 N.E. Wygant Street, will be at the Gable Funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Shumway died Sunday at a local hospital after a three year illness.
He was born at Anaka, Minn., March 25, 1878, but came to Oregon in 1886 and attended Russelville school. He was an engineer for the Spokane, Portland and Seattle railroad for more than 30 years and was employed in the shipyards during World War II.
His widow, Cora J., survives, with two sons, R.B. Shumway and I.L. Shumway, and two step-children he had raised from infants. Mrs. LaVern Kiewell Benson and Robert Kiewell, all of the Portland area. There are three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Roark and Mrs. Annie Taylor.
Interment will be at the Lone Fir cemetery.

[There was a funeral notice on August 14th that had the same information but included a brother, W.F. Shumway.]
