John Edgar Atteberry was born March 4, 1873 in Richland Co., Illinois, the seventh of eleven children of Isaac Sylvester Atteberry and Margaret E. Graham.

He married Evalina Bates on February 22,1893 and had three children: Lillie Mae (m. Fred Brennan), William Edgar (m. Gertrude Belle McCleary and Ruby Edith Gray)and Franklin Raymond.

Evalina died in 1901, and then he married Dora Alice Bowers on February 11, 1902. They had one son, Sherman Everett. She died in 1906.

He married Sally Ann Johnson on December 14, 1910 and then Sarah Hulda Barnhart in 1920. He died August 1, 1925.
