ELISHA S. BUELL was born 03 December 1888 in Iola, Allen County, Kansas, USA, the son of Henry W. Buell and Elizabeth Ermina Metz. He was named after his grandfather. Although Elisha appears in the 1910 census and a few city directories as "Elisha," almost all of his later records simply use his initials, "E.S."

Elisha's father worked for the railroad and so the family moved west from Kansas and eventually settled in Fresno. E.S. worked as a grocer.

On 17 August 1910 in Fresno County, California, USA, E.S. married Sadie Belle Fahler, a native of California. It was a short marriage, ending in divorce.

On 01 Nov 1915, also in Fresno County, California, E.S. married Rose Love Center of Kansas. Rose was the daughter of Joseph William Center and Rosa Williams. Together, E.S. and Rose had a daughter, Marjorie, but she was only 9 months old when E.S. died at the age of only 30 years old. He was buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Fresno. E.S.' parents were buried in the same cemetery, although their deaths occurred many years later.

Rosa remarried, but daughter Marjorie was raised by her maternal grandparents. She appears in the 1920 and 1930 censuses with them. She married Clifford L. Knauff in 1943 and divorced in 1975.
