He was a fine lad of 16, good looking, big, strong, and healthy, very good personality, beloved by all who knew him.  Was struck by a car and killed about dusk, in front of his home, as he returned home from a visit to his sister who lived down the road a short distance.  He was an only son.  (Our Colonial Lines, p. 39)
