Ronnie Eugene 'Ron' Hendricks

WINCHESTER - Ronnie Eugene "Ron" Hendricks, 62, formerly of Bernice, Okla., died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Jefferson County Memorial Geriatrics Center in Winchester. He was born Oct. 15, 1941, at Carona to Chester and Leona McReynolds Hendricks.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy based in Long Beach, Calif. He was a self-employed auto mechanic. He lived in Olathe and Ottawa before moving to Bernice in 1987.

He was a volunteer with the sheriff's patrol in Olathe and was a volunteer fireman with the Olathe Fire Department. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 02592 in Bernice.

Survivors include two sons; two daughters; two sisters; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three nephews; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Hendricks.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Marmaton Cemetery with William James Schafer of Mercy Pastoral Care officiating. Family and friends may meet at Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott before leaving for the cemetery at 10:40 a.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
