He resided at North Yarmouth and New Glocester, Maine.  Was in the squad of Scouts under Sergeant Jacob Parsons at New Gloucester 21 weeks and 2 days, roll dated at Boston, March 15, 1757, also in roll dated Boston, December 22, 1758, in Captain Joshua Freeman's Company June 13, to October 31, 1758 was with the detachment at New Gloucester under Sergeant William Stevens:  also November 17, 1759 under Captain Charles Leissner, seven weeks and one day as Scout to the eastward.

Later he served in the Revolution under Captain Nicholas Blaisdell's Company 13th Massachusetts Regiment Colonel Edward Wigglesworth, enlisted Feb 26, 1777, to serve three years, name appears on muster roll dated Springfield, April 23, 1777.

In camp at Valley Forge, Feb 5, 1778.  He was in Smart's Company, Smith's regiment, Feb 26, 1777 to January 6, 1778.
