Removed with his parents to Lancaster, Massachusetts, before May 1, 1653. His first wife, Mary Lewis, died soon after their wedding in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He lived in Lancaster, where he was commander of a garrison house. A prominant man, he held many of the town's chief offices, frequently serving on committees. He lived on an estate granted to him by his father. He died on his estate.
