In 1675, when father Edward Collver was 75 years old, Joseph, his father and 3 of his brothers (Ephraim, Edward Jr, and Samuel) took part in the "swamp fight" which occurred near Triverton, Rhode Island, on December 19, 1675.  (Our Colonial Lines, p. 87)
