Solomon married Elizabeth WATSON on 5 February 1835 in Thurso, Caithness, Scotland. (Elizabeth WATSON was born about 1817 in Dunnet, Caithness, Scotland and died on 21 August 1886 in Swinton, Berwickshire, Scotland 2.). The cause of her death was Atrophy of Liver, 4 Months; as certified by W. Watson Campbell, M. P. & C.

The wedding took place at Dunnet. Solomon Shearer was a laborer at Thurso and Elizabeth was residing at Dunnet. Witnesses: William Shearer, shoemaker at Thurso; and David Watson, farmer at Dunnet. David was Elizabeth's brother.
