    RIVERTON, Wyo. — Dewey G. "Red" White, died Monday (Feb. 26, 2007) at the home of his son, ----- on Burma Road near Riverton, Wyo.

    Dewey White was born in Poplar Bluffs, Mo., on May 29, 1924, the son of Walter Preston White and Edith (Gillispie) White. The family moved from Missouri to Oklahoma and Texas, settling in Sumter, S.C., where he attended school.

    Mr. White enlisted in the military at Fort Riley, Kan., in 1941, where he met and married Hilda Pruser on Sept. 2, 1944. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Army, the couple resided in north central Kansas.

    On Sept. 2, 1956, they moved to Culbertson. Mr. White worked in construction, building the south canal at Culbertson, Red Willow Dam and Swanson Reservoir. In the late 50s, he worked for the Frenchman Valley Hitchcock and RedWillow for many years as maintenance supervisor.

    During retirement, Mr. White served as county commissioner and enjoyed traveling with his wife through most of the Southern states. The last two years, he spent most of his time in Wyoming with his family.

    Mr. White is survived by his son, ----- and wife, ----- of rural Riverton, Wyo.; two granddaughters, ----- ----- and husband, ----- and ----- ----- and husband, -----; step-grandchildren, ----- McCoy and wife -----, all of Riverton; step-granddaughter, ----- McCoy of McCook; great-grandchildren, -----, ----- and ----- -----, -----, ----- and ----- -----, -----, -----, ----- and ----- McCoy; one brother, ----- White of Gainesville, Ga.; other relatives and friends.

    Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda on Dec. 29, 2003, one daughter, Barbara Jean White in 1974, and brothers, Jack, Louis and Allen.

    Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson, with the Rev. Brad Rick officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Culbertson Cemetery.

    Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

    Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of arrangements.
