bullet  General Notes

Despite what her gravestone says, Stella was actually born about 1859 in Ethel, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, USA and she died on 10 June 1939 in Slaughter, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, USA.  She was the daughter of Albert Chapman and Sarah E. Palmer.

Stella appears on the 1860 census in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana with her parents (although she's hard to find since they only list her initials).  By 1870, however, her father is apparently dead and her mother has remarried to Isaac Townsend.  They live in Baton Rouge.  Again, Stella appears only under her initials.  By 1880, when Stella is 20, she finally appears as "Stella" on the census (although her last name is a bit garbled). They still live in Baton Rouge.

Three years later, on 22 April 1883, Stella married Clay Bernard Maglone.  They had 4 children together — Anna (died in infancy in 1886); Ada Belle Maglone (1889-1965, never married); Clay Bernard Maglone, Jr. (1891–1953); and Albert Chapman Maglone (1894 –1979).

The family lived in Slaughter, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.  Clay farmed, but also did work as an agent (1880 census) and in troweling sales (1920 census).  Clay died in 1926, and Stella lived as a widow for another 12 and half years before she died herself on 10 June 1939. Stella was buried near her husband in Young Family Cemetery in Zachary, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.
