    Visitation for Richard E. "Dick" Messerle, 79, of Limestone, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. There will be no services.

    Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. He died Sunday (Jan. 29, 2006) at his home.

    Mr. Messerle was a salesman for Manco Mfg. in Bradley and Dake Corp. He was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Earl and Ruth Streeb Messerle. He served in the U.S. Army/Air Corps. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, traveling and all sports. He had tried out for the Dodgers.

    Surviving are his wife, the former ----- -----, whom he married Jan. 13, 1951, in Lawrenceville; children and spouses, ----- and ----- ----- of Stonefort, ----- and ----- Messerle and ----- Messerle, all of Kankakee, ----- and ----- Messerle of Federal Way, Wash., ----- and ----- ----- of Herscher, ----- and ----- ----- of Bourbonnais; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, ----- and ----- Messerle of Converse, Texas; three nephews; one brother-in-law, ----- ----- of Martinsville, Ind.; and three sisters-in-law, ----- ----- ----- of Huntington Beach, Calif., ----- ----- of Louisville, Ky., and ----- ----- of Martinsville, Ind.

    Deceased are his parents, one grandson, Joel Jason Messerle; one brother-in-law, Roger Clark; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Messerle and Gerry Clark.
