bullet  General Notes

ALMA MAY POWELL was born 13 Nov 1899 on the family farm near Wapinitia, Wasco County, Oregon, USA.  She was the daughter of John Melvin Powell and Della Alice White.

On 16 Oct 1921, Alma married her husband, Rolla Everett Richmond, son of Rolla Wrightson Richmond and Nancy Frances Maglone.  They got married in the Wapinitia Church, on a Sunday after a regular church service.  For a joke, the congregation sang the hymn, "O for the touch of His hand on mine."

Soon after they were married, they left Wapinitia and moved a few miles away to Maupin, Wasco County, Oregon, USA (this was partly because Maupin received electricity ahead of many of the other communities in Wasco County, Oregon).  It was in Maupin that they raised their six children.

Everett owned and operated Richmond's Garage in Maupin, along with his father and brother (and later two of his sons).  He died in 1983, and was buried in Kelly Cemetery.  Alma lived in Maupin a number of years following her husband's death, but as her own health began to deteriorate she moved up to Seattle to be with her daughter.  It was in Seattle that she died on 12 April 1990, only three days before Easter.

Alma was buried next to her husband in Kelly Cemetery, on Juniper Flat (near both Maupin and Wapinitia), in Wasco County, Oregon, USA on 17 April 1990.
