    ONEIDA — Franklin J. "Frank" Hawkins, 80, of Fairview Avenue, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, in the Crouse Community Center, Morrisville, where he had been a resident for the past month.

    Born in Vernon on March 25, 1929, he was a son of Jay and Lillace Zabele Hawkins. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Hawkins was educated in the Munnsville schools. He married Beverly Skonzak in 1950. Mrs. Hawkins died on Feb. 3, 1992.

    Prior to his retirement, Frank was the owner and operator of Frank Hawkins & Son Construction Company. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and enjoyed carpentry, making furniture, water wheels and restored tractors.

    Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, ----- and ----- Hawkins of Oneida and ----- and ----- Hawkins of Canastota; one sister, Vera Gardner of Chittenango; three grandchildren, -----, ----- and ----- Hawkins and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Dale Hawkins.

    Prayer services will be held following visitation at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, 260 Main St., Oneida. Interment will be made in Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call 4-6 p.m., Thursday.
