~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The "C." In Howard's name has no known meaning.
Howard was named by his Grandmother. Speculation has it that the 'C' may have stood for one of her father's names.
'There are reasons to believe Dell Ray B. Curtiss and Jennie S. Rennselaer Davis, along with Howard and Mabel, were among the first of our Curtiss family to migrate from Michigan to the Pacific Northwest.
They were loggers and sought the same kind of work in Idaho and Washington States.
bullet  Birth Notes
WWI draft registration card, filled out 9-12-1918 says that he is 32 years old and born on August 10, 1885.  If he were born in 1885, he would be 33 years old on 9-12-1918.  If he were born in 1886, then he would be 32 years old at the time of the draft registration card as filled out.  L. Mark Curtiss has his birth year as 1886.  I think, from the handwriting on the card, that the card was filled out by the registrar and signed by C. Howard Curtiss.  kmh.  1910 census age agrees with the 1885 birth year.
