bullet  General Notes

Emogene Richmond was raised in Little Falls, New York.  Upon her father Nathan's death (which was some form of accident according to family information), she and her sister were taken in by her uncle, Seth Richmond and raised with his family.  Seth and his other brother Alvin became prominent business men in Little Falls during the mid 19th century, operating a store, lumber and coal yard, and paper mill.

Seth Richmond was an organizer of the Little Falls National Bank, serving as its President in 1879; and also served as a village trustee; elected Sheriff of Herkimer County in 1860; served as a member of the State Assembly starting in 1867.

~~~~~~~~~
Emogene married Dexter Richardson on August 3, 1859 and resided on a farm 3 miles west of the village of Richfield Springs.  The farm was purchased by Dexter's father Almon (who came from Brookfield, Mass). At that time the chief product they produced was hops for the area beer market.
Emogene and Dexter had one son, Alvin Dexter Richardson.  Dexter died in 1912 and Emogene survived to 1929 - reaching a respectable age of about 86.
