bullet  General Notes

JANE JAFFREY HAINING was born 09 March 1851 in Symington, Ayrshire, Scotland, the daughter of David Haining and Elizabeth Boyd. On 30 Dec 1875 in Symington, she married her husband, John Wilson, son of John Wilson and Janet Morrison. Togther they had three children:  Elizabeth Boyd Wilson (b. 1876 in Kilmarnock), John Wilson (b. 1881 in Kinning Park), and David Haining Wilson (b. 1884 in Glasgow). John worked as a forgeman.

On 26 June 1898 John died in Dumbarton, Scotland, of a stomach tumor. Elizabeth and her children all ended up emigrating to the United States. Lizzie was first. She married her husband in Canada, and then they settled in Port Angeles, Washington. Jane joined them in Port Angeles, and it was there she died on 27 Nov 1928 of cardiac failure and bronchopneumonia. (Jane's death certificate gave Lizzie's birth location rather than Jane's, and also got the year a bit wrong. The gravestone repeats the error in birth year. The death certificate also misspelled her maiden surname as "Hanning," a common mistake.)
