  • Fact: 17 July 1809, in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. In Provost David Smith's last will, he directed his trustees to collect money on behalf of his grandson, Andrew Smith. In particular, they were to collect £100 Sterling which was in the hands of John Wright, cloth merchant in Edinburgh and £100 in the hands of David Wright, baker in Edinburgh which had been deposited with them by Andrew. [David was Andrew's first cousin, just a few years older than him; John was David's older half-brother, related to Andrew by his aunt Janet's marriage to his father, Robert Wright.]
