MARY HAINING was born 27 October 1863 in Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland. She was the youngest daughter of shoemaker William Haining and his wife, Annie Stobo. Mary grew up in Tarbolton, and lived there for most of her life. She worked as a dressmaker, and she never married. After she had a stroke, Mary was moved to Collisdene, Strathaven, Lanarkshire; she died there 8 months later on 07 April 1939. She was buried in her home parish in Tarbolton Churchyard.
