OBITUARY: Mrs. Effie E. Avolt, of Riverton, died at 8 p.m. at St. John's Hospital. She was 68 years old. Mrs. Avolt was a member of the Riverton Christian church and the Rebekah lodge of Riverton. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Mileham, Riverton, and Mrs. Rebecca Elmore, Springfield; three sons , William T. Robertson, Springfield, George Robertson, Riverton and Chris Avolt, U.S. Air Force, Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Bert Long, Spaulding, and 10 grandchildren. Remains were taken to the Ellinger & Kunz Funeral home.

The Moweaqua IL paper carried this item: "Last Monday, June 18, 1906, occurred the marriage of Berton Robertson and Effie Long of Springfield IL, Judge OW Smith officiating. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs. George Long and has every accomplishment for a good wife. The groom is an enterprising young man who has control of one of the electrical machines in the coal mine and receives one of the highest salaries at the shaft." 1
