Herbert Lee McReynolds of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Thursday, October 9, 1997 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri. He was born December 5, 1920 at Redfield, Kansas, the son of Oren Joshua and Fannie Marie Bowers McReynolds. He was married to Rosie Gibson on June 29, 1947 at Girard, Kansas.

He was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. He served with the 87th Chemical Company in the European Theater of Operations, handling incendiary bombs.  He filed spray tanks, made sky markers, handled screen smokes and also assisted the Ordnance Company in loading bombs in planes. He had been employed as a maintenance worker for the USD 234 school district.  He attend the Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 1997 at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery with military honors by Olson Frary Bunkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
