CANTERBURY, Mark H.
Veradale, WA resident Mark H. Canterbury, age 92, has gone to be with his beloved Lord and Savior. Mark spoke often and lovingly about Jesus' return, he just wanted a bunch of his family and friends to join him at the same time, soon enough dad, soon enough. Mark was born in Aberdeen Washington, February 19, 1914. His son of Spokane WA, and daughter of Tacoma, WA, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren survive him. His two loving wives, Lorraine Canterbury and Myrtle Teeter-Canterbury preceded him in death. Mark graduated from the University of Washington in 1938 (pre-law) joining the Army in 1941 he served in the foreign services and the Army intelligence where he was decorated. After his military service he became the official court reporter for the Superior courts of King, Pierce and Thurston Counties. Subsequent to his duties with the court he was appointed as the County Clerk for Thurston County in 1968 and was reelected and held that position until retiring in 1974, receiving the Distinguished Public Service award from the Washington State Association of County Officials. Mark and his second wife Myrtle retired to Ocean Shores, WA where he was a board member of the Gallilean Church. He also attended the Oberlin Congregational Church in Steilacoom, WA and the Lutheran Church in Olympia, WA. He was also a member of the Olympia and Aberdeen Elks and Rotary Clubs. Services will be held at the Dryer Funeral Home in Parkland WA, on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 with Graveside Service at the New Tacoma Cemetery. He will be missed by his family and friends who know he is held in the loving arms of Jesus. If they have boats in heaven, he'll surely be piloting one! Arrangements have been entrusted to
