General Notes John Livingston Cairncross (1908 –1969) was born in Twin Falls, Idaho. In World War II he served on the aircraft carrier "Barnes" and then for eighteen years he was a marine engineer on the tankers of Standard Oil Co. of California. He died in Portland, Oregon.
