Nellie D. Lusk (1923 - 2010)
Local resident Nellie Della Lusk, 87, passed away April 1, 2010 at Cedar Gardens Adult Family Home in Longview where she lived for the past seven months.
She was born March 21, 1923 in Wamic, Ore., to Andrew and Lula (Powell) Booth. She married John Lusk on July 31, 1945, in Seattle. They moved to the local area that same year. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Nellie received her high school diploma and went on to receive her AA degree at Lower Columbia College in 1976. She worked for several years as a teletype operator for Civil Service, where she met John. She later worked in the office for Mr. Deville's CPA Firm and Columbia River Lumber.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling and cooking for her family. John and Nellie loved "spring training" in Arizona and were avid Seattle Mariner fans.
She is survived by her son, ----- (-----) Lusk; daughters ----- (-----) ----- and ----- (-----) -----; sisters ----- -----, ----- -----, ----- ----- and ----- -----; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Lloyd "John" Lusk, she was preceded by a son, Robert A. Muessig, in 2005 and a brother, David Booth.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Private entombment will take place at Longview Memorial Park.
