Note: Does John have a middle name? John's baptismal record uses simply "John Bleasdale." In fact, almost ALL records that I've seen use only "John Bleasdale." However, the name "John Calvert Bleasdale" comes from family members - direct descendants of John Bleasdale and Mary Ann Helsby.
In many of my families from Scotland, it's very common for someone born in the late 1700s and early to mid 1800s to have no middle name on their birth record, but then they take a middle name based on the mother's maiden name later on in life. I've seen this happen over and over again (it was true of my great-grandfather Haining, in fact). That doesn't mean to say that this is what happened for John Bleasdale; I certainly have never noticed this pattern with my families that come from England (as opposed to those from Scotland). However, it is possible that there are family records that have him with the middle name "Calvert."
In light of the absense of official records, however, I am switching his main, preferred name to "John Bleasdale" and leaving "John Calvert Bleasdale" as an alternate name he is known by (even if only mistakenly). Aug 2014, kmh.

A Chagrin Citizen Passes That Mark In Life
OLDEST RESIDENT DEAD
An Eventful Life of Consecutive Success and Failure Ended--Widely Known and Accounted Upright Among Men--a Citizen Dies Full of Years.
The death of John Bleasdale which occurs Friday night, Dec. 27 takes from Chagrin Falls her oldest citizen and ends a busy career that less than twenty years ago was overwhelmed by the mad tide of misfortune from the clutches of which the venerable citizen never escaped until death came to his release.
John Bleasdale was born in Liverpool, England, Oct. 5 1803. He was married in the English city to Miss Mary Elsby, and in 1824 came to America. They resided in Lockville, N.Y. one year and then went to Kirtland, O, going from that place to Solon Center where they resided three years. That section at that time was nothing but a dense forest and howling wilderness, although the aged gentleman was frequently heard to refer to that period of his life with many pleasing anecdotes. Two years were then spent in Orange; three years in Roscoe, Coshocton county when (then) Orange township was again home for nine years. They then removed to Tennessee and not liking that state remained there but three years, coming back to Chagrin Falls but taking up their residence again in Orange. The family then went to Cleveland , resided in that city about eight years and later removed to Chagrin Falls, in which place, together with Connaut, the remainder of the busy life of misfortune was spent. Mrs. Bleasdale, the wife, died in this place Sept. 11, 1875.
The subject of this brief story was a ship carpenter by trade and had the reputation of being one of the best workmen of the kind along the lakes at that time. For several years he was a most successful ship builder and contractor and constructed many of the ------- and vessels on Lake Erie. After amassing a comfortable fortune he became interested in the Chagrin Falls paper company, and in the failure of that organization several years later the entire profits of his previous life's work were swept away and his life wrecked. He was later engaged in the coal and oil business in Conneaut but was never successful in the venture.
The deceased had been in failing health for several years and was quite feeble since last August, although he was down town about the middle of November. During the last five years of his life he resided with his daughter, Mrs. Alice Upham, on Orange street, where he died Friday night, Dec. 27. Deceased was not a member of any church at the time of his death, but his worth as an upright and honest resident we leave to Judgment of his legion of friends among whom he resided many years. Three children mourn their father's decease, Mrs. Alice Upham of this place, T.C. Bleasdale of Cleveland; W.H. Bleasdale of Conneaut, all of whom were present at the funeral which was largely attended and took place from his late home on Orange street, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Rev A.C. Welsh, pastor of M. E. church officiating. The remains were placed on Chagrin Falls cemetery vault for future burial.
