347. (JUDGE) PEREZ RICHMOND5 (William4, Silvester3, Edward2, John1) was born in Little Compton, R. I., October 13, 1728-9, and died November 23, 1800-1. He married, February 3, 1754, Mercy, daughter of Thomas and Edith (Woodman) Church, who was born September 18, 1734, and died October 24, 1813.
He was appointed to enlist minute-men, in Little Compton, June, 1775. He held various offices in town, and was a leading and influential man; was Auditor of town accounts; was Moderator of town meeting in 1784, '85, '89, '90, '93, and '94; also Judge of Probate Court, and President of Town Council. He was a mild old gentleman, fond of children, and popular. He lived fifty or sixty years opposite the head of Meeting-House Lane, the place now owned by Fred. R. Brownell, Esq. (1895).
He was quartermaster and enlisting officer for Little Compton in 1759, and was one of a committee "who shall use diligence to procure arms and accoutrements" in 1776. He was killed by falling from his horse.

Perez Richmond5 and Mercy, his wife (with others), of Little Compton, R. I., conveyed, March 29, 1770, to Abraham Lincoln of Scituate, their interest in some land belonging to the estate of Thomas Church, who mentions Mercy Richmond in his will.
His will, dated November 3, 1800, probated February 4, 1801, mentions wife Mercy; sons Thomas and Charles; daughters Sarah Clapp, Ruth Gunnison, Elizabeth Hathaway, Anna Attwood, Mary Codding, and Hannah Ellis; esteemed friend Mace Shepard; executors, Brother William and esteemed friend, Sylvester Brownell. He devised his real estate to his sons, and they sold out to Sylvester Brownell, the grandfather of Sylvester Richmond Brownell.
Perez Richmond5 and Mercy, his wife, William Bailey, Samuel Bailey, Francis Bailey, Ruth Bailey, and Sarah Wilbur, all of Little Church, by deed, dated March 29, 1770, witnessed by Thomas Church and William Richmond, and acknowledged March 30, 1770, before William Richmond, Justice of the Peace, conveyed to Abraham Lincoln, Scituate, land in Hingham; deed recorded August 6, 1773, book 124, p. 119.
