He was born in Westport, Mass., and graduated at Union College, Schenectady, N. Y., in 1804, being the Valedictorian of his class. IN 1807, he was elected a Professor in Union College, and held that position for a number of years. In 1817, he was appointed assistant
minister of Trinity Church, New York. He was consecrated Bishop of
Connecticut, Oct. 17, 1891. He was the first President of Trinity College, Hartford, Conn.
