John Jr., came to America in 1818. He worked in Philadelphia, and Niagara for one year, also on the Erie Canal before moving to Canada about 1821, north of Toronto. He was engaged in farming there. His parents set sail for Canada in 1836, but were shipwrecked and driven back upon the coast of Ireland. Before they reached port, his mother died and was buried at sea.
