Harold Karon Dampier, 67, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was born on Aug. 21, 1948 in Valdosta and had lived most of his life in Valdosta.
Mr. Dampier attended the Northside Baptist Church and was retired from Georgia Power Company. He was in the first graduating class of Lowndes High School where he played football and was a veteran of the United States Army. He thoroughly enjoyed farming and animals but most importantly his grandchildren. Mr. Dampier was always willing to help and teach in anyone in need and could fix anything. He served on the Board of Pike Pond.
Survivors include his wife, ----- ----- Dampier of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, ----- ----- and ----- Dampier of Valdosta and ----- ----- Dampier of Sylvester; his grandchildren, ----- -----, ----- and ----- Dampier; his mother and step father, ----- -----and ----- ----- ----- of Valdosta; brother and sister-in-law, ----- ----- and ----- (-----) Dampier of Valdosta; mother-in-law, ----- ----- of Valdosta; two step sons, ----- ----- and ----- ----- both of Athens, Ga.; step grandson, ----- -----; stepsisters and step brother-in-law, ----- and ----- ----- of Jacksonville, Fla., ----- ----- ----- of Avondale Estates, ----- ----- ----- ----- of Jacksonville, Fla.; aunts and uncles, ----- ----- and ----- ----- of Valdosta, ----- ----- ----- of Thomasville; his nieces and nephews, ----- and ----- ----- and ----- and ----- Dampier.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Leon Dampier. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at the Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Robby Foster and the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening, Dec. 4, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
