Born July 8, 1928 in Hebron, Indiana to Edmond and Vernice (Hale) Hough. Glenn grew up on a farm in Hebron, was an active 4H member and deeply involved in church activities.
After graduating high school he went to Purdue University, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree. He immediately joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War in the Seventh Cavalry and 45th Infantry Regiment Heavy Tank Company. He rapidly moved up in rank and became a Sergeant and Communications Chief. He earned an Honorable Discharge and left the Army in 1952.
He met M. Jean Read in Witt, Illinois before shipping overseas and was married upon his return, on November 8, 1952. His career with the USDA Soil Conservation Service started shortly thereafter. He and his family were transferred to several cities in Illinois before eventually moving to Seattle in 1962. A transfer in 1974 took Glenn and his family to the Lacey and Olympia, WA area, where he stayed for the remainder of his life.
He and wife Jean were strong supporters of the foster care program and supported seventeen or more foster kids over their life. Church and spiritualty was a very big part of Glenn's being, always supporting his church as best he could. He was a musician, using his vocal abilities in Barbershop Quartets and in Church Choir most recently at the First United Methodist Church of Olympia. He was a drummer at Purdue early in his life and carried his interest and skills to the Olympia New Horizon's Band. He always found time to attend his kids or grandkids band, orchestra and choir performances.
