Alfred "Al" Molesworth, 75, of Grand Island, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Custer County, near Gates to Charles H. and Nellie O. Troxel Molesworth. Al was raised on a farm/ranch in Custer County and attended country school.
He worked as a farm/ranch hand until entering the United States Army in 1949, serving 18 months in the Korean Conflict. He returned to farm/ranch work until 1956, when health problems forced him to seek medical attention.
On March 2, 1956, he married Ruby L. Fear at North Platte. They made their home on a ranch near Brady until health problems again caused Al to seek medical attention. They then moved for a short time northwest of Hershey before moving to Grand Island.
In Grand Island, he worked at the Veterans Hospital as a cook, then later as an elevator operator, and then as a building maintenance worker until his retirement 23 and a half years later. He then did odd jobs until he went to work for Skagway and Dow Service as a custodian until retiring at age 65.
For the past three years, Al had made his home at the Grand Island Veterans Home. While a resident at the Veterans Home, he was always willing to help his fellow veteran's in any way he could. He enjoyed hunting, fishing garden and yard work.
Mr. Molesworth was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 53, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the National Rifle Association.
