• In Memoriam: Local poet Joan Kelly wrote a poem written in honor of John Yuille after his death.
  
  Victorian poetess Joan Kelly (1820 –1898) was a native of Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. She spent half her life in the local 'poorhouse' due to being blind. One of her poems is called "In Memory of Mr John Yuille," written shortly after his death in 1883 (and published in her anthology Miscellaneous Poems in 1884):
