Pastor Emmitt Filkins
Pastor Emmitt L. Filkins, 64, of Somerset, died late Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1939, in Crooksville, a son of the late Russell and Ines Brown Filkins.
Pastor Filkins was a lifelong resident of Perry County. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and had pastored churches in Crooksville, Powhatan Point and for the last two years, the Pentecostal Church of Christ in Zanesville. He was a member of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.
He is survived by his widow, ----- ----- Filkins of the home; four sons, ----- Filkins of Newark, ----- Filkins of Deavertown, ----- Filkins of Charleston, WV, and ----- Filkins of Somerset; a daughter, ----- ----- of San Jose, CA; 16 grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, ----- Filkins of Zanesville and ----- Filkins of Houston, TX; two sisters, ----- ----- of Roseville and ----- ----- of Pinkneyville, IL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Wycinski.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pentecostal Church of Christ with Suffragan Bishop Frank McDonald eulogizing.
Burial was in Mount Horeb Cemetery.
William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage was in charge of arrangements.
