MURPHYSBORO — Tommy E. "Tomcat" Stowers I, 63, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, at Pettett Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, with military services conducted by the American Legion Post 127, VFW Posts 7190 and 2605 and the Jackson County DAV Chapter 69. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Tommy was born Jan. 30, 1941, in Brynside, W.Va., to Earl Lee Stowers and Macel Lydia (McAllister) Stowers.
He had worked as a farmhand. Before his illness, he enjoyed talking on the CB radio.
Mr. Stowers was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and three very special friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerome Stowers, and his parents.
