  General Notes

MINNIE MAE DONALDSON was the daughter of John Donaldson and Abigail Overacker.  She was born 14 March 1893 in Minnesota, but was christened and raised in Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA.  She appeared in the 1895 Iowa State Census in Decorah, as well as the 1900 and 1910 federal censuses.  When her parents' gave her birth location, it was always listed as Minnesota, but as an adult Minnie listed herself as born in the town she was raised and christened in — Decorah, Iowa.

On 27 July 1910, in Decorah, Minnie married Joseph William Moran, son of Charles Moran and Idella Vickerman. They had two sons together, but later divorced.

Minnie married Lewis Leonard Downs on 26 May 1925 in Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Together they raised a daughter in Waterloo.  Lewis died in 1973, but Minnie lived for another 18 years before she died herself on 30 October 1992 at the age of 99 years old. They are buried next to each other and share a gravestone in Waterloo Cemetery.
