JANE FRANCES MILLER-HOOPER
1948 - 2011

Jane Frances Miller-Hooper, 63, of Kansas City, MO, passed away June 9, 2011. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Avenue, KCMO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 13 at Visitation Church, 5237 Main Street, KCMO. In lieu of flowers, please give memorial contributions to Carondelet Manor Memory Garden.

Jane was born in St. Louis, MO, on June 4, 1948, to Martha Rosemary Cordia and Edward Lowell Miller. Jane grew up in an extended family that included her mother, grandmother, sister, her aunt and uncle, and 3 cousins. Jane always felt that her family was the most important part of her life.

She attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and Xavier High School on West Pine in St. Louis. After high school, she attended Fontbonne College in Clayton, MO, and graduated with a degree in Speech Therapy and a minor in Psychology in 1970. Upon graduation, she was employed by the East St. Louis, IL, School District as a language development teacher for one year. She moved to Shawnee, KS, and took a position as a delayed language teacher with the Kansas City, MO, School District in 1971 at Henry Clay elementary school. While teaching at Henry Clay she met her future husband, ----- Hooper. Jane and ----- taught together for many years. Jane went to graduate school at Kansas University and earned a Master's degree in Learning Disabilities and taught learning disabilities until her retirement.

Jane loved to teach and taught for 18 years. She had to retire in 1987 because of Multiple Sclerosis. Jane spent the last 8 years of her life at Carondelet Manor. She loved the staff and residents and published a newsletter that spotlighted residents, staff, and volunteers.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, -----; and their two children, son, -----; daughter, -----; and sister, -----. Condolences may be left for her family at... Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost, Kansas City, MO 64131, (816) 444-2060
