General Notes
Glenn O. Daline
Feb. 28, 1927 - March 29, 2006
Longtime Corvallis resident and Portland native Glenn Oscar Daline passed away early Wednesday morning after a short illness, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 79.
Glenn was born in Portland. Growing up during the Great Depression shaped many of his views on life. He attended Franklin High School in Portland and was awarded a diploma on his 18th birthday in 1945. He joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. World War II ended as his unit was undergoing preparations for the invasion of Japan. He attended Oregon State University on the G.I. Bill, graduating with a degree in industrial engineering in 1951.
He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Irene Powell of Portland, on May 22, 1948. They had five children and moved to Corvallis in 1961. All of his children grew up in Corvallis and attended Corvallis High School. His wife Helen passed on in 1996 after a long and happy marriage. Two of his children, Dana Christine Daline and Lani Daline Younger, preceded him in death.
Glenn worked at Evan Products in Corvallis for many years, and at Pepsi-Cola Bottling of Corvallis, and Coca-Cola Bottling of Eugene. He retired in 1991.
Glenn was an avid toy collector, and amassed a large collection of Matchbox, Hot Wheels and Barbie dolls, which gave him great enjoyment. In his retirement he was a fitness enthusiast, and often worked out at the Corvallis Fitness Center, up until just a few weeks before his death. He enjoyed bicycling with the Mid-Willamette Bicycling Club.
Glenn is survived by three children, 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
An open house will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at his home, 326 S.W. Eighth St., in Corvallis. All of Glenn's friends, relatives and acquaintances are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Benton Hospice Service, 2350 N.W. Professional Drive, Corvallis, OR 97330.
