Mitchell Porter Gilliam is the son of Catherine Gilliam and, history passed on, probably, Jesse Green — a school teacher.
He was usually called Porter or 'P' and went to Oregon in 1844 with his uncles Cornelius and Mitchell Gilliam.
He was a private in Captain Newmith's Co. in the Cayuse War.
Lieutenant in Home Guards Company at The Dalles-Civil War.
