MELVIN EUGENE McREYNOLDS

Melvin Eugene McReynolds, age 68, resident of Weir, Kansas, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.

He was born July 28, 1939 in Fort Scott, the son of Herbert McReynolds and Hazel Lucille Bolin McReynolds. Melvin married _____ Mayberry on Nov. 16, 1957 in Miami, Okla. He operated a wood cutting business in Olathe, Kansas prior to being disabled and retiring to Weir, Kansas. His enjoyment was spending time with children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, three sons and three daughters.  Also surviving is his step-mother, two brothers, and three sisters, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Melvin D. McReynolds and two brothers, Billy and Harvey McReynolds.

Evangelist Aaron Williams will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Marmaton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to a Melvin McReynolds Memorials Fund and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kansas, 66701.
